Hi to everyone, well done Joe K for getting this and running, I myself tried to open one on my google blog, but absolutely nobody wrote in but me, but to be fair i opened it up just as a kneejerk reaction to being banned 'or was it censored because censoring does by principle feel like being banned because they wanted to pre- moderate comments that i felt i was not going to abide by so i actually banned myself.
Now what i want to say, I want to defend Anna, yes I know how it feels and we can jump up and down all we want, but there has to be a standard ,or a line where rules are applied and if you are just on that line or feel one way or the other, then it feels unfair, i know as i have been there many a time, and yes I've huffed and puffed, but sadly the Beeb is silent.
But Anna is a person ,and all people have feelings, and i would like to ask people on here to remember that once you calm down from being censored. Now i hope that I'm still welcome, and i look forward to having many a debate, especially with you Joe K , my friend, and a Happy New Year to all .

I recall that someone posted several links to a Google board during the board revamp fiasco, but it looked like a bit of a fright, illustrating the fact that moderation is never nice when it's being applied to you, but it also keep a lot of fruitcakes and scammers at bay.
Anna, and the moderation crew in general (Tayler Cresswell on The Archers' board, too) probably do get more flak than they deserve. They may also, though, interpret many comments as abuse that the posters never dreamed could be taken as offensive. That was why I suggested that Tayler provided examples of the 'offensive' posts on a site with a high tolerance for offence, without naming the posters.
The problem with the Beeb, of course, is that their big plus is also their big minus. Their popularity (not necessarily in the Archerian sense) means they can't take chances with potential abuse, although they are far more cavalier with the 'off topic' rule.
What I would try to do on this site, if it ever takes off, is give reasons for why posts might be moderated (and proboard sites have been closed because of complaints), and invite discussion on posts that have been moderated. There's also my little idea about handing over the reins to another poster if the membership renders a vote of 'no confidence' (although the whole 'turning it over to the next poster to register' may need re-thinking, after 'tellinithowitis' joined immediately after I announced it, and has never posted. Maybe 20-30 posts, to qualify).
Bear in mind, though, that I kept this site simple because I wanted to provide something that the Beeb didn't, a Feedback message board. To compliment, not contrast. I'm still wondering about adding a general chat/discussion board. It seems like 'big eyes'. What do people think?
