Currently, this comment has been 'referred for further consideration', so it may return, but I haven't time to wait and see, so...

Thanks for trying, sterac, but Nick would view your comment as 'disruptive'... I imagine that if any other readers who have viewed the link post it up as well, the Beeb will eventually block this entire site

We really need to take a look at the 'appeals system'... Here's the (first) link: www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/moderation.shtml#canappealYour next step is the 'feedback form': www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/contact.shtmlThen 'Comments and complaints about moderation', which unfurls a dropdown piece of text which invites you to either read about moderation or read about appeals, but not actually complain. Let's try the first one: www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/moderation.shtmlHere you can appeal by using the 'feedback form', so you're going in circles. If you want a laugh, though, scroll down and click on 'actions against unreasonably persistent complaints'. But let's back up and try 'the appelas section of our moderation page': www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/moderation.shtml#canappealWell now, that looks strangely familiar as well... 'Canappeal' is BBC Online's biggest crock, and only someone with the brass of Nick Reynolds (AKA Deputy Dawg AKA He Who Must Not Be Named) would pretend that it's a serious option. Oops, he's picked his ball up and gone home, sniffling...

Therefore I am closing this blog for new comments for 24 hours. It will reopen again for comments at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
Thanks

And I'm glad you didn't. In a way, though, it's a relief to be able to walk away from the keyboard for more than a few minutes. I almost know how Harry Hill feels. If anyone wants to fill in the gaps, again, I'd be very grateful. The aim for this board was to provide the thing the BBC wouldn't, a 'Feedback' message board to go with the 'Points of View' one. Now we don't even have radio messageboards, so it's apt that it be used to berate the 'genii' who decided radio listeners had less use for boards than couch potatoes...

Well it looks like 24 hours in the naughty corner for all the posters on the BBC Homepage blogs. I personally didn't see anything overly offensive directed at BBC staff and I have been following the blog from day 1. What I have seen is a lot of frustration directed at the BBC, who, through their attitude have have turned the homepage blog into a mass of different issues. Anyway while someone spends 24 hours looking for the baby's toys to put back in the pram, and the rest of them discuss their strategy on how to make this all go away before it gets too far upstairs, I am of to play poker so I can buy the wife something extra for Xmas. Dont forget folks, you can find most of the BBC's key players on Twitter. Have a good day off everyone, and come back refreshed for the fight at 4pm tomorrow.

The most amusing thing is Nick Reynolds' assumption that anyone thinks not being able to comment for 24 hours makes any difference, given that he and the rest of them are not 'listening' anyway. When the blog is opened again, he will unctuously instruct people not be disruptive ('Thanks'), but the comments saved above demonstrate that if anyone is disrupting the discussion, it is him. Except, of course, that it is not a discussion, but a blog entry with uppity commenters which he, Reynolds, despite moderation being way below his pay grade now, can't resist interfering with. If only someone would pin him down on what precisely an 'accountability executive' is supposed to do? Be accountable, or some crazy thing like that? Trim that non-job, the Beeb. Oh, and by the way, welcome, sterac I don't think I've had 95 visitors before, although 30 or so is standard, even for such a relatively underused board. For everyone viewing the alternative Radio 4 boards page, Gavin's Station provides a good read about the message boards attrition, but the relevant forum, 'Fancy closing the MBs!' is hidden unless a user is logged in, which obviously means registering. apoliticalparty.org.uk/GavinCorder/viewforum.php?f=3

And to 'clear up Peta's confusion'... Pre-moderationEvery single post is checked before it appears on the board. Post-moderationAll posts appear on the board immediately and are checked shortly afterwards. Reactive moderationPosts are usually only checked if a complaint is made about them. This approach is only used on boards intended for adults. If you see a post on a reactively moderated board - or any other board - that you think may break one of the House Rules, please alert a moderator by using the triangular complaint button complaint icon or link labelled 'Complain' beneath the post. It will state on the message board is pre-moderated (sic), post-moderated, or reactively moderated. Please note that while the majority of posts on reactive boards will not be viewed by the moderators unless they are complained about, individual topic areas, users and particular words and phrases may all be set to post- or pre-moderation at the discretion of the BBC. I assume this also applies to comments on blogs as well. If comments are post modded, though, that suggests an inordinate degree of scrutiny, but why am I not so surprised? Blogs are Reynolds' tinker toys, and everything must be put under the microscope...

Well, we'll soon see (my cat and me) if Reynolds can tell the time, let alone keep it. Will he open the blog again with a stern note of caution for mischievous scamps, and will they pay any heed? Will it all go Pete Tong within minutes, or will the entry struggle along, with really nothing left to say that hasn't been said, and Reynolds showing no sign of having learned a little humility? We shall see... Nick's last post
