The title of my missive was thus:
"Points Mean Prizes! What do points mean?"
The content was as follows:
Points actually appear to mean "Sorry, off-topic here."
This person called Anna displays an unbelievable dumbness, or is at the behest of some congenital idiot up above with whom I and many others here would sincerely love to have an open debate, face to face, regarding just precisely how one achieves a topic that is on-topic.
You, who run this skunk's breakfast of a website message-board should hang your head in shame and embarrassment at your seeming inability to even get close to doing so successfully.
Who are you? Where do you live? If you wish to close these G8dd*m message-boards down completely , then bl**dy-well do so and put us all out of our misery and you and Anna of a job, which is all you deserve.
You certainly do not deserve our support, and I feel very sorry that someone can display such errant stupidity.
You would not recognise a gift-horse if it sat on your collective faces and announced "I am a gift-horse".
Joe K, I really do resent Anna censoring this and then posting a riposte. I'm not pretending it was a great bit of posting, but it was sure spontaneous, and I mean every word.
Surely the dimwits who run the BBC MBs can realise that there is here a coterie of enthusiasts for all things radio 4, and we do not need the likes of this Anna-person to school-marm us.
I really do wish I (or a group of fellow posters) could seek audience with Anna, whosoever she might be, and her overlings, too. I don't wish to blame her personally, maybe she is only obeying orders. But i wish to give her the chance of speaking her own real mind on this subject, because what she has been posting today is pure defensive and pathetic twaddle.

Anna is her actual name (although it may not always be Anna behind the screen-name), and she has a surname too, although I forget what it is. She knitted a nativity scene for PM a couple of years back, you may recall.
The big problem with the R4 message boards (well, one of them, you may wish to nominate others), is that they don't allow poster to poster communication. It probably looks subversive to them, because the mods can't know who's saying what. Maybe with a different board, some of the management will share some secrets. Or they won't, but never mind. Like you said, it's good to have a lifeboat, especially when the house rules aren't as stringent as on the big boat.
It's still not a competition, though. Like I said, most users trust the Beeb over any individual, even when they do little to deserve it. As long as people know where the alternatives are when they're needed, I'm happy.
